Miguelito Road Barn

The horses don't seem to mind that the Barn is falling down.

Pushing the Envelope

This slogan was very popular ten years ago or so. It still applies to people who are ambitious and imaginative.

Mom and Appurtenances.

This is a bit too small to show the baby on the back and the dog. I used to feel like this when I walked to the store in Kaneohi. Luckily the store would drive us home or I'd never have made it. (I really didn't take the dog.)

A breath of fresh air always feels good.

Dante's Inferno

This is a poured oil image of Dante's Inferno. 4'X4' The background was poured in oil and then worked into with fresh oil for this effect. If you look closely you can see the creatures falling into it. (the color in this is off...should be bright red, not orange.)

Rocky Coast

This was done along Shell Beach, Ca. You have to watch out for those waves coming in that can surprise you and give you a bath or wash you right into the drink. Mussle gatherers maybe?

Male nude, pastel

This was one of a model we had where I decided to try pastels for a quick sketch.

Medusa

This sculpture was done in clay with a model. Not sure what inspired it. Probably a model we had and I just added the snakes, etc.

Dragon

This was done after attending a Chinese New Years Parade in San Francisco. It was during the Hippy-days .(the flower in his mouth, and the beads) The oil background was poured first and then painted into.

UFO (Art from Scrap)

This construction was done in response to a challenge to a group of artists to make 'something from scrap'. I had an old script typewriter that had seen better days so I took it all apart and selected some pieces to make this "UFO'. When I finished I put the remaining pieces back in the box and gave it to my neighbor asked him if he could fix it for me. When he opened the box he about had a heart attack. We all had a good laugh.

The Family

This painting was done describing the nearness of a Mother and her children, expressed by all of the color and activity, with a distant Father in the foreground.

Geisha's maid

This is the reverse side of the one below.

Obasan

This is one side of a head I did of a lovely model we had once. When I finished I turned it completely around and did the figure of "her maid".
Or one could call it "Youth and old age."

Boat Yard

This was done at the Port San Luis boat harbor. We went as a group and picked scenes we wanted to do.

Bolero

This painting reminds me of the work of Ravel. A lot crashing and clashing but very well organized and bound to get your attention.

Creamery Barn

I started this early one morning and as I was paiting my hands almost froze but, later in the day it warmed up and I had a better feeling about the painting. (I hate cold)

Akua Kii

Akua Kii is a Hawaiian God and very powerful. You'd better mind the kapus or his wrath would strike you unmercifully. I tried to portray his other-worldliness by pouring a bacground to suggest his aura.

Livia and her Poisons

This painting was started with poured paint and then worked into later.
Livia was Agustus' wife and very creative in choosing the poisons she used to get rid of him and any of the children in the family who might prevent her son from taking the throne when Agustus died. She used poisons, snakes, Knives (by proxy) and anything she could lay her hands on. (Which was just about anything she wanted, one way or another.) Incidentally, she succeeded.

Stick Fish

When you're down there swimming around you must be sure to look very carefully because, many underwater occupants are cleverly disguised. It's beautiful though.
This one was started by pouring paint and then working into it.

Orchids

I call this my "show-off" piece. I was done free-hand with no drawing first, with acrylics on Arches paper.
